 Richard M. Bramer-

Chief Counsel in the Office of Attorney General Office

Richard M. Bramer is Chief Counsel in the Office of Attorney General Greg Zoeller. He was first appointed to that position by then Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter in December of 2008 after serving as Section Chief for eight months. Rich previously served as a Deputy Attorney General assigned as counsel to the Indiana Department of Labor and the Indiana Department of Correction from 2005 until March of 2008. He served as a member of the transition team for Governor-elect Mitch Daniels in 2004 and 2005, and was a policy adviser to the Daniels campaign in 2004, concentrating on correction and labor issues. He was hired as a Deputy Attorney General in the Civil Rights and Employment Section of the office in 2002.

Previously, Rich was in private practice in his hometown of Sullivan, Indiana, for eleven years. He served there as Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Sullivan City Attorney, chief counsel to the Southwest School Corporation of Sullivan County, and as counsel to various towns, townships, and conservancy districts while operating a solo practice. He also served on the District Pro Bono Commission in Terre Haute and received the 1999 Pro Bono Publico Award from the Indiana Bar Foundation for furthering pro bono services to the disadvantaged in Clay, Putnam, Vermillion, Vigo, and Sullivan counties.


Rich is a graduate of Sullivan High School, Wabash College, and Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington.

This speaker serves as a "Public defender/Community defender" agency and will provide information to the people about what they do and how they are there to serve them in their community. This month’s Mission Moment will feature the Lighthouse Mission of Terre Haute.  The purpose and mission of the Light House Mission is to aid, assist, and care for homeless individuals by providing shelter, clothing, food, education, and emergency services without regard for race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability, or medical condition.
